"Phantom Beast Palu" official: It is not recommended to play our game all the time
"Palu" community manager responds to "falling popularity" statement: players should play more kinds of games
In an interview with YouTube channel Going Indie, John Buckley, the game community manager for Paru, responded to the title's claim that it was "gradually losing popularity."
Mr. Buckley argues that the game was never designed to last forever and that it makes no sense for players to do so. If players keep playing the same game, he says, it will only dilute the market by reinforcing publishers' and developers' belief that real-time service games are the way of the future.
"It's not healthy for us, it's not healthy for developers, it's not healthy for gamers, it's not healthy for the game media. It's not healthy for our industry because the more we push the genre, the more big companies think gamers want to play real-time service games."
Buckley called on players to play a wider variety of games, especially indie games, rather than single-genre games like Palu, so they can focus more on having fun.
Back in February, Buckley advised fans to try other games while waiting for a content update for Paru, saying that declining player numbers were not a problem for them because Paru was not the kind of game designed to provide players with new content on a regular basis.
